Corbezzolo
Appartiene alla famiglia delle ERICACEAE e insieme a leccio ed erica e’uno dei principali arbusti SEMPREVERDI rappresentanti della macchia mediterranea. Si sviluppa su terreni granitici acidi e anche calcarei, in Gallura è presente sia nella zona costiera che in quella montana su tutto il Monte Limbara.
Le foglie sono verdi lucide munite di un corto picciolo con nervatura centrale più marcata nella parte inferiore, i fiori appaiono in autunno inverno, e i frutti commestibili sono delle bacche dolciastre sferiche dal colore variabile nei vari stadi di maturazione che vanno dal verde, giallo arancio al rosso intenso.
Proprio per i suoi colori è molto decorativa come pianta ornamentale, le foglie sono molto gradite dal bestiame è un ottima legna da ardere, i fiori sono molto amati dalle api che producono un miele amaro tipico della Sardegna, con importanti proprietà balsamiche e antisettiche, mentre con le bacche si producono squisite marmellate.
Nell’800 i colori bianco rosso e verde delle varie parti del corbezzolo, evocarono la bandiera italiana e divennero simbolo di unità nazionale. Fin da tempi remoti in molte regioni del mediterraneo veniva piantato un corbezzolo in segno di benvenuto, infatti nel linguaggio dei fiori la campanula bianca è simbolo di ospitalità.
Strawberry
It belongs to the ERICACEAE family and together with holm oak and heather is one of the main EVERGREEN shrubs representing the Mediterranean maquis. It develops on acidic and also calcareous granite soils, in Gallura it is present both in the coastal area and in the mountain area throughout the Limbara.
The leaves are glossy green with a short petiole with a central rib more marked in the lower part, the flowers appear in autumn-winter, and the edible fruits are sweetish spherical berries with a variable color in the various stages of ripening ranging from green, yellow-orange to intense red.
Precisely because of its colors it is very decorative as an ornamental plant, the leaves are much appreciated by livestock and an excellent firewood, the flowers are much loved by bees which produce a bitter honey typical of Sardinia, with important balsamic and antiseptic properties , while delicious jams are made with the berries.
In the 1800s the white, red and green colors of the various parts of the strawberry tree evoked the Italian flag and became a symbol of national unity. Since ancient times in many regions of the Mediterranean a strawberry tree was planted as a sign of welcome, in fact in the language of flowers the white campanula is a symbol of hospitality’.
Arbouisier
Il appartient à la famille des ERICACEAE et est, avec le chêne vert et la bruyère, l’un des principaux arbustes PERMANENTS représentant le maquis méditerranéen. Il se développe sur des sols granitiques acides et également calcaires, en Gallura il est présent aussi bien dans la zone côtière que dans la zone montagneuse sur l’ensemble du Mont Limbara.
Les feuilles sont vert brillant avec un pétiole court avec une nervure centrale plus marquée dans la partie inférieure, ses fleurs apparaissent en automne et en hiver, et les fruits comestibles sont des baies sphériques sucrées avec une couleur variable dans les différents stades de maturation allant du vert, à jaune orangé à rouge foncé.
Largement polyvalente, par ses couleurs elle est très décorative comme plante ornementale, les feuilles sont très appréciées par le bétail, c’est un excellent bois de chauffage, les fleurs sont très appréciées des abeilles qui produisent en effet un miel amer typique de la Sardaigne, avec d’importants propriétés balsamiques et antiseptiques, tandis que de délicieuses confitures sont faites avec les baies.
Dans les années 1800, les couleurs blanc, rouge et vert des différentes parties de l’arbousier évoquent le drapeau italien et deviennent un symbole de l’unité nationale. Depuis l’Antiquité, dans de nombreuses régions de la Méditerranée, un arbousier était planté en signe de bienvenue, en effet dans le langage des fleurs la campanule blanche est un symbole d’hospitalité.
